The Company actively works in theareas of soil and water conservation through its initiatives such as:
Enhancing tree cover for protecting the soil, enriching biodiversity, helps to create better environment around our manufacturing facilities. We carry out tree plantations and install tree guards in our neighboring villages.The initiative helps us increating agreen cover across our communities.We also carry out beautification and maintenance activities of green cover in these areas.
Filter drainage water from household and make this filtered water re-usable in agriculture and for gardening in our factory premises
Ponds and check dams are water reservoirs and play crucial role in meeting the water requirement of human being and animals. There are some villages that have ponds and check dams but over a period of time, they cannot be used, as there is large quantity of silt which reduces its water storage capacity. By collaborating with village Panchayats,we help in de-silting and renovating of ponds so that water is available for household work,farming, drinking water for animals etc.The removed silt is also used as natural compost by nearby farmers.
Modern agricultural practices support farmers in conserving water, improving farm productivity and reducing farming cost. Drip irrigation is one such farm practice that contributes in water conservation to large extent. In association with Gujarat Green Revolution Company (GGRC) and farmers, we provide drip facility in the areas around our manufacturing facilities. Having identified hurdles in enrolling farmers into drip installation programme; we work with our implementation partner to educate the communities.
