Excel Kisan Mitra (‘Kisan Mitra’ means - farmers’ friend) is a field programme designed to approach and understand farmers’ needs, offer advice, guide and refer best farm practices to them. Be it soil, growth and nurturing of crops or pest related problems - Excel Kisan Mitra Team (EKM) – is dedicated to resolve them. EKM is a team of agronomists which attends to the farmers directly in their fields. They handhold farmers and help them make the best utilisation of their resources.

They send the soil samples to our research laboratory, where an analysis of the soil is carried out to check its:

• Nutritional Quality
• Physiochemical Characteristics
• Microbiological Characteristics

An analytical report thus prepared is sent to the EKM team, which explains the issue to the farmer and suggest him solutions accordingly.

The various initiatives of the EKM are:

• Information Desk
  Where experts guide farmers on various subjects related to agriculture.
• Training and Lectures
  Short duration lectures for the farmers to help them get acquainted with latest developments in the sector and also their requirements.
• Exhibitions and Audio Visual Seminars
  Information on the cropping pattern of a particular area and latest inventions obtainable to increase productivity of land is brought to the farmer’s knowledge. Documentaries on farming and its changing patterns are made available to the farmers to enhance their knowledge.
• Excel Kheti Patrika
  A monthly publication is released for helping farmers to share developments in the sector.
• Excel Mobile Van
  Providing doorstep services to farmers.
